THE Christmas story clicked into place as schoolchildren shared their understanding of the nativity with family and friends.

Barnard Castle Preparatory School also performed the Magical Christmas Jigsaw in the school chapel to local nursery schools in a display of song and dance to remember.

Fifty-nine pupils, aged four to seven, from Reception and Years 1 and 2 spent weeks rehearsing the Christmas extravaganza before delighting the audience with their rendition of the classic tale.

Headmistress Laura Turner said: “They were absolutely fantastic. It was a very complex play with lots to learn and they all did amazingly well.”
