A BEAUTY therapist has nailed a chance to run her own business from a popular North Yorkshire salon at just 19.

Lucy Jaskowicz has launched a new service at Shine Hairdressing, in Stokesley, offering manicures, gel polish and acrylic nails.

The service complements hairdressing at the salon, allowing customers to have their nails done while they wait for colour and other treatments.

Salon owner Stephen MacVean said: "We knew clients wanted to be able have nail treatments while they were here and it's something we wanted to introduce some time ago, but it's been about finding the right person.

"Lucy is young and ambitious and has fit in really well with the team. It's great that clients can now access both complementary services in one place."

Lucy, from Easby, studied beauty therapy at Middlesbrough College for two years and spent her third year at a nearby spa. She then launched a mobile business, providing treatments at clients' homes and at her own home.

She said: "It's gone very well but I also wanted to have a salon presence. I get my hair done at Shine and so does my mum. She mentioned that I was looking and it all came together really well because the salon was looking for a nail technician.

"It's scary for me to have my own business, but exciting and really enjoyable too."

Lucy provides treatments using Jessica Phenom and GELeration products and acrylic nails by I.Nails Express, with prices starting at £10 for a 30-minute mini manicure.

She is at the salon, in the High Street, all day on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. For appointments, call 01642 712755
