TALENTED musicians brought Christmas cheer to a packed house after staging an annual Yuletide concert to remember.

Students at Richmond School and Sixth Form College provided a show-stopping extravaganza, the culmination of months of rehearsals, cementing the school’s burgeoning reputation for music.

Jazzy Christmases reverberated around the hall along with classic carols and swingalongs as the festive spirit pervaded the performance.

Family and friends enjoyed string ensembles, solos, the junior, jazz and concert bands, classical guitar group, choir, student band Millefleur and Diva Dance Company in a varied programme of unbridled talent.

The repertoire ranged from Hallelujah to I Dreamed the Dream, Silent Night to Man in the Mirror in a concert that lasted more than two hours and included audience participation.

Lead teacher for music Allison Brown said: “The fact the hall was so packed shows how much the reputation of our young musicians has grown over the years. The show was the culmination of so much hard work by students and I am proud of every one of them. They are a credit to their parents and the school.”

She singled out for high praise sixth formers Hannah Garton and Evie Wright. “I cannot imagine the music department without them,” she said.

“Their active involvement and unflinching support has made them brilliant role models which has inspired many young musicians to follow in their footsteps.”
