FUNDRAISERS are enjoying the sweet taste of success after an office tuck shop raised hundreds of pounds for charity.

Staff at Clive Owen LLP have been treating themselves to snacks on a daily basis with donations going to Zoe’s Place, an independent charity providing hospice care for babies and infants.

Based in Normanby, Middlesbrough, the hospice opened 12 years ago and specialises in palliative, respite and end of life care for children aged from birth to six years suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

Thirty six families from around the region are currently using the facility, which needs £1.4m a year to continue its work.

Clive Owen operates offices in Darlington, Durham and York and is recognised as one of the largest independent firms of chartered accountants in the North, employing around 100 staff including ten partners.

Chomping through a variety of tasty treats has helped them raise £250, which was presented to hospice mascot Zoe Bear and corporate fundraiser Sue Fox by tax manager Elizabeth Layfield and tax assistant Julie Allan.

Sue said: “Zoe’s Place can provide care for up to six children at any one time, with one to one care given by our excellent team of nursing staff.

“This gives the parents a much needed break and time to take a breather to do the things that most of us take for granted.

“We rely on donations and the support of the public and companies such as Clive Owen, who have been fantastic in helping this way. Without the support of companies like Clive Owen we would not be able to continue our work.”

Elizabeth added: “We have around 60 staff in Darlington but receive regular visitors from our other offices who also enjoy our tuck shop.

“We started it for a bit of fun and it has become really successful so we open the tuck shop every day and the donations go to support a variety of charities nominated by colleagues.”
