STUDENTS, staff, families and friends celebrated in style the end of an era at a leading North-East school.

Sixth formers at Barnard Castle School, resplendent in their finery, bid a fond farewell to headmaster Alan Stevens as he prepares to move on after seven years to head the prestigious Marlborough College, Malaysia.

They also wished good luck to Barnard Castle School’s second master Tony Jackson who takes over the reigns when the County Durham independent school returns in September.

Catering and events staff transformed the dinning and school halls into a venue fit for the occasion celebrating with a meal and live music the end of Year 13 students’ time at ‘Barney’.
