A TALENTED young artist has put herself in the frame after achieving a gold award for her work.
Northallerton School and Sixth Form College A level art student Chloe Hunt picked up the top prize at the Easingwold and District Art Society Autumn exhibition for her watercolour portrait ‘Not Just a Pretty Face’.
Chloe, who was one of four Northallerton School and Sixth Form College A level students to submit artwork to the exhibition, said: “I was pleased when one of my paintings was selected to be part of the exhibition but was shocked when I went to see it on display with my family and saw the gold award certificate next to it.
“It was amazing to see it on show and I feel very happy that my work was recognised among such a high standard of art.”
Chloe’s £50 art voucher prize will be used to buy a new set of watercolours and pencils.
Head of art at Northallerton School and Sixth Form College Anne Chapman added: “We have been entering our A level students’ work into the Easingwold and District Art Society exhibition for a number of years with considerable success.
“Last year Callum Grayson won the gold award for his reptile head painting and Amber Hutton was presented with the silver award for her intertwined braid drawing, so it is wonderful to have yet another winner this year in Chloe.
“Chloe is a meticulous artist with amazing attention to detail. She has good skills across the board and her work shows sensitivity in the use of tone, colour and composition.”
Northallerton Sixth Form student Lauren Hill was also highly commended for her floral painting submission ‘Vivacious’.
Chloe’s winning artwork will be submitted within her final portfolio of work which will count towards her A level result next year.
