SEASONAL singers branched out as they took their festive spirit into the community.

Choirs from Northallerton School and Sixth Form College not only sang for visitors but also decorated a tree as part of an annual Christmas festival at the town’s All Saints’ Church.

The Year 7 choir, 7-Up, sang One Republic’s Counting Stars, while the older students’ Pop Choir treated listeners to their renditions of Bruno Mars’ Marry Me and Merry Christmas by Slade. Sixth former Will Alderson added to the mood by performing Chopin on the piano.

Now in its third year, the festival proved to be the biggest yet with 53 Christmas trees provided by Sam Turner & Sons being decorated by a host of organisations.

More than 3,000 people visit the spectacle enjoying church services among the trees, entertainment, refreshments and fun competitions.

Christine Brayshaw, from Northallerton School and Sixth Form College, said: “Taking part in the annual festival is an absolute delight which all of our students relish.

“The Year 7s not only performed beautifully but also spent considerable effort making acrylic decorations in DT. It’s an event which starts the festive season in spectacular fashion.”
