A YOUNG player from Moorends is hoping to line up with England when the rugby league U19 European Championship returns this year.
Jordan Bull was selected to play for England last year and is now hoping to be picked for the squad to play in Serbia in late summer.
The 18-year-old is currently studying for A levels in English, history and sport at Trinity Academy, in Thorne, combining his academic life with playing for Castleford in the National Conference League Division One.
Last autumn he was part of the England youth team that beat Wales and Scotland after he was selected with a squad of 20 from 250 players taking part in trials.
Jordan started playing when he was six, encouraged by his uncle Martin Rowlands, who is a former player and a coach.
After playing for Moorends, Jordan moved to Doncaster Toll Bar then Askern Lions, moving to Castleford three years ago.
“The aim is to play professionally but I’m also planning to go to university to study sports science, either at Loughborough or Leeds Beckett, where I hope to carry on playing,” said Jordan.
“I’m not the quickest but people tell me that I can read a game well, predicting play before it happens and putting myself in the right position.
“I’m really hoping to be selected to play for England in Serbia. Eventually I’d like to play professionally, ideally in Australia.”
