A MUSIC festival will be beamed live around the globe thanks to the skills of media students.

Darlington College students have volunteered to capture the very best of OxjamDarlo on video and stills photography and upload it to social media as it happens.

The live music festival descends of Darlington on October 12 with up to 50 artists playing seven venues across the town.

The event aims to raise much-needed funds for Oxfam to help relieve global poverty and suffering.

Media, journalism and photographic students from Darlington College have volunteered to capture and review the spectacle, edit and post it on social media sites including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Level 3 journalism and PR student Rebecca Parkinson, 17, of Darlington, said: “We are all incredibly excited about the event. It will be a great night out and something I have never done or seen before in Darlington.

“It promises to be really good providing a great opportunity for up and coming artists and raising awareness about the plight of people around the world who are not as fortunate as us.”

She said the organisers had been excellent and great care has been taken to ensure the event was age appropriate.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for us as well as it should provide us with some amazing material for our portfolios,” she said.

Venues include The Forum, Avalon, Seen/Inside Out, The Old English Gentlemen, The Pennyweight, The Quakerhouse and Voodoo Café.

Acts include Abel, Raise the Chain, Cellar Door, Vito, Last Rough, Cause, The Days, Lifetime Skiver, Weekend Sun, Goy Boy Mcilroy, The Equalisers, Lost Rockers, Serinette, No Fun, The Jar Family, The Legal Sinners, The Broken Broadcast and Nico Cara.
