FRONTLINE police officers are to receive daily inspiration thanks to an arts project being undertaken by college students.

The walls of Darlington Police Station will soon be covered in words of wisdom in a joint initiative with Darlington College.

Chief Superintendent Graham Hall has just met with Darlington College extended diploma art and design students to assess their initial artwork.

He said: “Anyone coming into the station from our car park will be greeted by a wall of inspirational quotes which can’t fail to lift their spirits with some very positive messages.

“The work the students have already completed has been excellent and they have sourced some great quotations of their own.”

Matthew Thorne, 16, of Northallerton, added: “It is great to be commissioned to do a live project with real clients. It is even better to think that our work could inspire other people in their jobs.”

Tutor Pippa Eeles said: “This is a great project for the students offering them a real taste of working in the industry with genuine clients and deadlines. I know they will be thrilled when their designs are actually on the wall at the police station.”
