FABULOUS Faberge will add a touch of glamour as a school celebrates the 10th anniversary of its current building.

Pupils will be encouraged to ‘bling an egg’ as part of a host of activities marking the opening of West Park Academy on its current site in Darlington.

Formerly Alderman Leach Primary School, it moved to a new purpose-built school in 2005 where it later changed its name to West Park Academy.

As part of planned celebrations on March 20 past pupils, parents, governors and directors are being invited back to the school, which is also appealing for memories and memorabilia to exhibit on the day.

Visitors will be treated to tea and birthday cake, while enjoying musical entertainment and be offered the chance to look round an exhibition chronicling a decade of school life.

Children will enjoy a Faberge Easter egg decorating competition, dancing, singing and circus tricks.

VIP guests will include Darlington’s Mayor and Mayoress Gerald and Ruth Lee and councillor for Young People and Children Cyndi Hughes.

Principal Catherine Thompson said: “We would love to hear people’s memories of the school and any photographs could form part of the exhibition.

“We have achieved such a lot in the past decade – moving from our old school to a brand new one, changing to an academy with a new name and catering for children from nursery through their formative years – which is all definitely worth celebrating.”

Anyone who would like to contribute to the exhibition should contact the school at admin@westparkacademy.org.uk.
