Students celebrate after becoming their college’s A Team.

STUDENTS celebrated after becoming their sixth form college’s A Team.

Richmond sixth formers were rewarded for their efforts with a total of 35 A* and A grades in a wide range of subjects.

Top A Level results will now see the Richmond School and Sixth Form College

tudents continue their studies at the university or apprenticeship of their choice.

Straight A* and A grade students included Paolo Osorio, who will now study biochemistry at Oxford University.

She said: “I am absolutely thrilled with my results and really looking forward to going to Oxford.

“I would love to become involved in research, something like genetics, where there are some amazing things happening at the moment.”

Also going to Oxford are Claire Heseltine who will read classics and Grant Dalton, history, while Samya Kelly will read human, social and political sciences at Cambridge University.

Sophie Overin has gained a place at the prestigious Royal Holloway University in London to study music and French and Jai Pillai has been accepted to study dance at Teesside University.

Peter While will read computer sciences and Hollie Smith film and television at York University, Isla Teasdale, Medicine at Dundee University and Olivia Redfearn and Katie Raw geography at Lancaster and Leeds University, respectively.

Other notable high achievers were David Evans who will be studying physics at Newcastle University, former Bedale student Catherine Booth who will study occupational therapy at York St John University, Nicholas Baker-Haste, Stewart McInerney and Beth Lightfoot, who gained outstanding grades in BTEC Sport and will study sports related courses at Northumbria, Leeds Metropolitan and Salford Universities.

Headteacher Ian Robertson said: “The results are testimony to the hard work of the students and the outstanding support by a committed and hard-working staff.
“What is particularly pleasing about this year’s results is the fact that students will go on to study a diverse range of courses, which is an excellent indicator of how well they have been prepared and the fact that Richmond Sixth Form caters for different interests and ambitions.”
