STUDENTS will be making a Big impression on the audience with their rendition of a classic movie.

More than 60 students at Trinity Academy, Thorne, will present the musical Big from February 29 to March 2, the curtain rising at 7pm.

The showstopper marks the culmination of six months’ rehearsals for one of the most challenging productions the school has tackled.

Cast members, from Years 7 to 13, have had to learn more than 25 songs as the production flows like an opera.

Director Siobhan Foster said: “It’s really complicated and there are a lot of young students in the cast. It has been a real challenge and they have all done very well.”

Choreography was arranged by Gemma McArthur, Cat Miles was musical director, Lorna Hadwin was assistant director and technical support was provided by Chris Evans and John Chapman.

The production marks debuts and finales for the cast. For sixth former Toni Goulden, it will be the last performance of a string stretching back through her time at Trinity Academy.
The 17-year-old hopes to create a professional career as a singer and would love to work in America.

“I am currently doing lots of auditions and hope to find an agent,” she said. “My nana got me into singing when I was young and I have been professionally trained since Year 9.

“I have been in every show during my time here and really enjoyed it; it has changed me and shown me what I want from life.”
