A FATHER and daughter team are continuing to drive forward family values at a 90-year-old motor dealership.

Sarah Greaves, 24, is the latest recruit at Vauxhall specialists Sherwoods following in the footsteps of her father Mike, who has worked for the family run firm for 23 years.

Sarah graduated from Teesside University with a degree in sport and exercise and also runs her own part-time personal training business.

At Sherwoods she mans the reception area and greets customers at the company’s flagship showroom on Chesnut Street, Darlington.

“After leaving university I wanted to be my own boss and run my own fitness company,” said Sarah, of Darlington.

“But with a new house and bills to pay it was too much of a risk and I knew that I needed to look for a part-time job to help me with my finances.

“My dad told me that Sherwoods were looking to recruit a part-time receptionist and I knew how much he’d enjoyed working for them over the years.”

Sarah is now able to concentrate on developing her own business, SG Fitness, while also enjoying working alongside her dad Mike, who, as trade development supervisor for Sherwoods, oversees the care and development of the company’s trade customers.

“Sherwoods is a fabulous family-orientated business with great values and I’m delighted that Sarah has joined the staff,” said Mike, 46.

“I was approached by managing director Alasdair MacConachie when I was just 20 and I actually started here a year to the day that Sarah was born.

“It’s a great place to work and although I was the one who told Sarah about the position she got the job on her own merit.”

Sarah is now hoping that some of Sherwoods’ 151 employees, across its Darlington, Stockton and Northallerton dealerships, will sign up to get fit at one of her boot camps and keep fit classes.

“I’ve already had a few members of staff asking me about doing some personal training for them,” she said.
