A GROWING insolvency practice has opened its first city office and immediately announced the creation of three new jobs.

Within days of opening in Newcastle, Robson Scott Associates has signed up new clients in the manufacturing, engineering and construction sectors and begun recruiting for three senior posts.

Director John Shepherd said: "It has been a very positive start for us in Newcastle. The business community seems pleased that we're here and the initial response has been very encouraging.

"We have appointed a new department manager and are looking for two additional members of the team who have a strong understanding of business in this part of the world."

Robson Scott was founded by John and fellow director Eamonn Wall in Darlington eight years ago and has since grown into a £1m turnover business with 11 staff.

The practice specialises in business advice and insolvency services for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships across the UK.

Its expansion to Lansdowne Terrace, in Gosforth, follows demand from clients and opportunities for growth on Tyneside, Northumberland and into Cumbria.

Eamonn added: "We felt the time was right to bring our more modern approach to insolvency services into the city. Typically people will find their insolvency practitioner online but they tend to prefer to discuss their circumstances face to face, and that needs local presence.

"The level of work we are attracting is already higher than we anticipated, not because of the number of businesses that need help, but because more people recognise we can advise and support them through the process and bring them out the other side."

John added: "Our job is to identify the options for keeping a business going, or at least to lessen the loss, to preserve jobs and keep people in work. We are good at sourcing alternative forms of funding and we actively try to dissuade people from formal insolvency if we can find another way.”

Robson Scott will be hosting an open evening in Gosforth to launch its services to professional advisors such as accountants and lawyers in November.

Robson Scott Associates works with clients in all sectors including agriculture, the chemical industry, engineering and professional services. The company can be contacted on 0800 218 2013.
