A MOTHER and daughter have teamed up to bring a range of cosmetic and aesthetic treatments to a new North East salon – including The Perfect Peel beloved of celebrities.

Nurse practitioner and independent nurse prescriber Denise Dunning offers treatments that are unavailable in standard salons because, although non-surgical, most can only be carried out by a qualified medic.

Denise has trained to an advanced level in London, Paris and Switzerland, and is invited to attend master classes with some of the world’s elite doctors in aesthetic medicine to further her knowledge.

Now she has passed on her passion to daughter Sophie Quinney, a semi-permanent make-up artist, and together they are bringing their business, Eden Aesthetics, to Shine Hair & Beauty in Preston Farm, Stockton.

Denise is the only trained practitioner in the Teesside area to be trained in The Perfect Peel, which uses a key anti-aging ingredient never before used in a peel called glutathione.

“Once applied it’s a seven day peeling process and the best results come after 30 days when your skin is repaired, glowing and flawless,” explains Denise.

She is aware that such dramatic and high value treatments mean clients are often cautious about who they go to.

“Thousands of women around the world are having treatments every day but concern about how well qualified and capable the practitioner is can be a barrier for many. I understand that, and can very quickly reassure clients not only of my experience and expertise in delivering the treatments but also with my nursing and prescribing background.

“A number of the treatments I offer are only to be carried out by a qualified medic. In addition, the general skills and expertise learned in nursing shouldn’t be underestimated because you need a good bedside manner, the ability to explain a treatment properly and, although it’s rare, be able to deal with any complications.”

Denise, who is a member of the British Association of Cosmetic Nurses, adds: “I talk every client through the treatments and tell them what realistically can be achieved; I never make false promises, which can mean managing expectations.

“Over many years I’ve built a toolkit of treatments to achieve the outcomes clients are looking for because not every treatment works or is suitable for every client.”

As well as The Perfect Peel, she offers wrinkle relaxation treatments and dermal fillers from Juvederm, Belotero, Restylane and Radiesse, eDS skin-needling by Dermaroller, PDL thread lifting, PRP skin rejuvenation therapy, Obagi treatments and Glo Minerals make-up.

Denise says the exciting treatment of 2015 is PDO thread lifting.

Sophie offers semi permanent make-up, or cosmetic tattoo, for eyebrows, eyeliner and lips. She trained with international brand Nouveau Contour and is doing further advanced training in February.

“We both make sure we continue to train for our own professional development and also so clients can be confident we’re using the very latest techniques,” says Sophie.

Denise adds: “With the aesthetic treatments our ethos is on natural enhancement. The vast majority of clients don’t want people to know they’ve had anything done but just to acknowledge that they look really good, naturally fresh and have renewed confidence.”
