PARTY going pupils were ‘Footloose’ as they frocked up for a glittering 80s themed prom night.

Staff, students, parents and carers at The Dales School, Morton-on-Swale, put on their leg warmers, neon headbands, ra-ra skirts and roller boots for a night of partying at The Golden Lion Hotel, Northallerton.

Staff upped the 80s glamour by dressing as characters from the decade including Ghostbusters, Private Benjamin, ET and Jessica Rabbit, alongside students styling out new romantic looks with shoulder pads and curly perm wigs.

Head teacher of the co-educational special school for pupils with severe and complex learning needs Ann-Marie Ellis said: “This is the first time that The Dales School has hosted a prom outside of the school premises.

“Prom night is a rite of passage for all students and this year we decided to party in a more formal setting where we could really celebrate all of our students’ achievements.

“The students chose the theme themselves and arranged all of the entertainment and food for the evening. It is a real privilege to be able to celebrate with them, to say goodbye to these exceptional young people and wish them well as they move on to the next steps in their lives.”
