PRIMARY school children were given a taste of the big school in an initiative designed to ease the transition to secondary education.

Richmond School and Sixth Form College opened its doors to feeder primary schools to show pupils what life will be like in Year 7.

They took part in a host of activities in a wide range of subjects, from science and maths to dance and PE.

Assistant head teacher Sandra Johnson, who organised the event, said: “We are always thrilled to welcome our prospective Year 7s to these introductory days. They are able to meet staff and students and get a taste of what is on offer here.

“Their energy and enthusiasm is infectious and spending three days with us now really helps them adjust quickly to secondary school life when they join us full-time in September.”
