A SCHOOL celebrated yesterday after seeing a huge improvement in results since joining a successful education trust.
Our Lady and St Bede’s Catholic Academy became part of the successful Carmel Education Trust earlier this year.
It posted GSCE results yesterday that were almost 20 per cent better than last year with 72 per cent of students achieving five A*-C grades including English and maths, which is a record for the school.
Head teacher Chris Hammill said: “We are absolutely delighted with these superb results. I’m sure this will place Our Lady and St Bede’s as one of the most improved schools in the country.
“I would like to congratulate all of our students on their achievements, the staff on their dedication and the parents for their support.”
Chief executive of Carmel Education Trust Maura Regan added: “The results are absolutely tremendous, reflecting the dedication of staff and students and the success of the trust’s ethos to give young people the very best chances in life.”
