ROUNDERS players had the opposition on the run as they dominated a prestigious sporting contest.

Just half a rounder separated them from the winners in the School Games North Yorkshire County Final.

The Year 9 players were representing the whole of Richmondshire in the annual contest after winning through earlier rounds.

PE teacher and coach Rachel Harrower said: “The girls deserve a massive pat on the back after playing the best I have ever seen in three years.

“Their teamwork, attitude and resilience was outstanding throughout the whole tournament and they came so close to being top of the county.

“Equally important was the fact that the were praised by the umpires for being polite and exhibiting the best sportsmanship, which made me doubly proud of them.”
