STUDENTS have been given a glimpse of their futures as they make the move from school to college life.

Richmond School and Sixth Form College welcomed teenagers from around the area to give them an insight into further education.

Taster sessions were run in subjects ranging from maths and science to music and sport. A host of enrichment sessions saw the Sixth Form Centre take on a carnival atmosphere as students staged a musical and dance performance they had rehearsed during the day.

Assistant headteacher in charge of transition Sandra Johnson said: “Our introductory day welcomes students from our own Year 11 and also neighbouring schools, such as St Francis Xavier, Richmond, Risedale School, Catterick Garrison, Wensleydale School, Leyburn, and Bedale High School.

“A packed day of experiences and activities gives them a real flavour of the unique nature of our sixth form, which offers the very best teaching in a small and unintimidating setting. The atmosphere was absolutely buzzing and staff and students had a great day.”
