THEATRE-goers proved to be full of beans after raising buckets of cash for charity during panto season.

Collections were made at the Hippodrome Theatre Darlington with generous visitors to Jack and the Beanstalk raising £2,115.32 for St Teresa’s Hospice.

The donations will go towards the annual £3m running costs of the charity, which provides in-patient, day and community care for people in Darlington, South Durham and North Yorkshire.

Every year the front of house staff at the Hippodrome collect before and after performances for St Teresa’s raising tens of thousands of pounds over the past 10 years.

Theatre marketing officer Julian Cound said: “Our audiences are amazing. People’s generosity is never ending and they are always ready to dig even deeper to help a good cause.”

St Teresa’s communications and marketing manager John Paul Stabler added: “The Darlington Hippodrome staff are always so supportive in our fundraising efforts and the public have once again been incredibly kind and generous.

“We are proud to be a charity which serves the whole community and we certainly couldn’t do this without the continued and tireless support of everyone who donates.”
