YOUNG actors will be happy again when they take to the stage for a production of the classic musical Singin’ in the Rain.

Students at The King’s Academy have been rehearsing the show for months and will start skipping through puddles later this month.

Anton Blackburn, Kirsty Gosnay and Alex Connelly-Marsh have been chosen for the lead roles made famous by Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O’Connor in the 1952 MGM movie.

The story is set in the 1920s and depicts the transition from the silent movie era to the ‘talkies’.

The film focuses on the disastrous conversion of The Dueling Cavalier into a talkie, and The King’s cast travelled to Gisborough Hall to film scenes that will be shown during the stage production.

The four night run starts with a signed performance on Tuesday, March 25, followed by three more performances on Wednesday 26, Thursday 27 and Friday 28, each one starting at 7.15pm.

Tickets at £6 for adults, £4 for children up to age 18 and senior citizens, and £18 for a family ticket (two adults and two children) are available from the academy reception in Stainton Way, or by calling 01642 577577 to reserve.
