STUDENTS have been dancing up a storm to help a global charity.

Beaumont Hill Academy, Darlington, staged a two-hour dancathon to raise funds for Comic Relief.

Pupils aged five to 19 were joined by staff in the marathon dance-off to contribute to the Red Nose Day appeal.

Even more fundraising took place with a Great British Bake-off style bakathon in which the pupils made and sold cakes.

Beaumont Hill Academy secondary lead Karen Revill said: “It’s a good job we did both events as the extra calories we put on eating the lovely cakes we were able to dance away in the afternoon.

“Our students are all very enthusiastic fundraisers and they had a great deal of fun supporting a very worth while cause.”
