SPORTS day encapsulated a school’s ethos as athletes took to the fields for an end of year competition.
With house pride at stake, the smiles on faces were considerably brighter than the weather as pupils from Barnard Castle Senior School and Prep School competed on the track and in the field.
Resilience, perseverance, determination and humility were the order of the day as children from Reception class to Sixth Form ran, jumped, threw and tugged their way to the honours.
Prep School Headmistress Laura Turner said: “It was cold, windy and rainy but you would never have known by the way all our pupils competed and enjoyed the day. Our annual sports day is a highlight of the year regardless of the weather.”
Headmaster David Cresswell thanked hundreds of parents, family and friends for attending. He added: “Sports Day is a spectacle we all look forward to and pupils’ achievements today are even greater for overcoming the inclement conditions.”
