AN academy’s youngest children got its Christmas celebrations under way with the first of eight Nativity performances.

Every year group at Bede Academy Primary, in Blyth, takes part in Christmas performances, starting with children who attend the Nursery in the morning.

Directed by teacher Joanne Baird, the three and four-year-olds impressed an audience of parents and friends with their telling of the traditional Nativity.
From shepherds to angels, wise men to animals, all the children had a part and songs to sing.

Mrs Baird said: “We’ve only been rehearsing for three weeks so the children did really well performing in front of so many guests.

“It’s a lovely way to start our Christmas celebrations and we’re all looking forward to the performances of the older children in the academy.”
