STUDENTS were offered a unique approach to fulfilling their dreams as a sixth form opened its doors to the community.
Hundreds of Year 11s and their families descended on Richmond School and Sixth Form College to hear about past achievements and future plans.
Head teacher designate Jenna Potter told a packed audience: “Our uniqueness is in the care and attention we give students and in the way we track their progress.
“Additional help is always available. Our goal is to make their dreams come true, help them make great memories and put them on the right path.”
Mrs Potter said that Ofsted, who confirmed their ‘good’ rating, had highlighted the positive learning environment at the school and sixth form and the positive relationship that existed between staff and students.
This year’s exams results had been among the best ever with 61 per cent of all A Level grades being A*-B and the average grade being B-.
More than 80 per cent of sixth formers went on to study at their preferred university, 31 per cent at Russell Group establishments including Oxford and Cambridge.
The school and sixth form college was also about to enter a new era of self-government as a multi-academy trust that would realise exciting opportunities with other top schools in the county.
“Our retention and completion rates are high,” Mrs Potter said. “Our mission is to provide the best learning experience and high quality outcomes for young people in this area.”
Visitors were taken on a tour of the sixth form facilities and were able to talk to teachers and existing students about life at Richmond Sixth Form.
Head girl Emily Wood told visitors: “Our tutors are very important to us and get to know us really well. They keep us on track with our grades and there is something here for everyone.”
