SCHOOL children have received a spring time treat to keep them occupied and entertained during the Easter holidays.

Pupils from Marchbank Free School, Darlington, were given bags of toys, games, puzzles and notebooks, along with some sweets, thanks to a £500 donation from Greggs and waste management company Warrens Group, who also support their breakfast club.

Marchbank specialises in the education of children with social, emotional, mental health and additional needs.

Last year the school successfully placed a bid with Greggs to receive funding for a breakfast club. Recently, it received some smoothie machines so pupils could create their own healthy drinks and fruit, cereals and jams are provided daily.

A couple of weeks ago staff applied for more funds to support pupils and their families with an Easter treat.

Head teacher Tess Wright said: “The donation was very generous of Greggs and Warrens Group who support us so well.

“The children have been outstanding during the upheaval caused by the pandemic and we thought they thoroughly deserved a treat of something that they can enjoy and will keep them occupied during the holidays.”
