CAVORTING camels, singing sheep and warbling wisemen brought the story of the Nativity to life in fine fashion as a school celebrated the run up to Christmas.

Pre-prep pupils from Barnard Castle Preparatory School performed the Big Little Nativity, by Mark, Helen and Naomi Johnson, for a packed chapel of family and friends.

Filled with fabulously catchy songs, the play tells the traditional Nativity in an easy and enjoyable way. It is big because it’s a huge story and little because it is designed to be simple for younger voices and easily taught.

Headmistress Laura Turner said: “The children have been rehearsing for weeks and worked exceptionally hard to produce a peerless performance.

“With some sickness among key members of the cast they all really stepped up to the mark to fill in at the last moment to ensure the audience went away very happy with the performance.”

After the performance there was a collection in aid of the school’s chosen charity  StoreHouse, a project supported by the Influence Church, Richmond, to help meet the needs of the community in difficult times.
