A WORLD recorder holder had pupils skipping to his beat Ninja-style in a bid to further improve their wellbeing.
Skipping Ninja Pete Thompson had pupils from Barnard Castle Preparatory School literally jumping with joy in a series of workshops designed to boost their physical and mental health.
Pete has been skipping for the past 15 years and in that time has secured five world records for his endeavours.
A former teacher, he turned skipping into a business and now travels the country with his roadshow.
He told the children: “Skipping is very physical but also makes you think better. Fifteen years ago I wasn’t doing any exercise or eating healthily and I didn’t feel very well.
“I started running, swimming, going to the gym and cycling, but when I picked up a skipping rope it changed my life giving me Ninja focus. I skip every day and it makes me feel powerful. It is when I feel happiest.
“Skipping does match many of the school’s Barney Way superhero values and it will help the children to be more successful.”
Headmistress Laura Turner said: “We firmly believe in the power of exercise in boosting learning opportunities. Physical and mental wellbeing go hand-in-hand. Our children love being active and this boundless energy is then transferred to the classroom for their academic studies, helping them excel.”
