A TRIO of sales staff have won national recognition for being the best trained in the country.

Car sales consultants David Betts, Peter Gibson and Paul Bennett, of Vauxhall dealership Sherwoods, have been awarded the first ever Vauxhall UK advanced level certification for offering the best financial deals to their customers.

The award follows 12 months of intensive training with Vauxhall Finance, which will eventually see all 25 sales consultants across the family run dealership sites in Darlington, Stockton and Northallerton receive Vauxhall accreditation.

Managing director of Sherwoods Alasdair MacConachie said: “As a business we always put customer care at the forefront of everything we do.

“Providing excellent financial training to our staff is very important to us to ensure the continuity of that care to our customers.”

Certificates were presented by Vauxhall Finance UK finance and insurance training manager Ruth Goymer.

“Sherwoods are the first Vauxhall dealership in the country to receive these awards which is a very significant achievement,” she said.

“Money lending is very topical at the moment and we need to ensure that as a brand we are providing good quality advice to our customers.

“It gives them the confidence to know they are buying a good product supplied with good straight forward up to date financial advice.”

Vauxhall Finance is currently working with 10 dealerships across the country with training to be rolled out to all retailers over the coming year.

Vauxhall Finance and Insurance development manager Martin McGough said: “The staff at Sherwoods were brilliant to work with.

“They showed a real willingness to take new ideas on board and embraced all aspects of the training.

“Even though they are well established members of staff with many years experience they were all still very keen to learn.”

Sales consultant Dave Betts added: “Sherwoods has always been a very progressive employer and keen to lead the way especially in staff training.

“Financial affairs can sometimes be a bit of a minefield so it is good to know that customers can rely on us to provide the best advice to them at all times.”
