A MAGICAL theatre performance is set to dazzle audiences as it takes to the stage to welcome in the festive season.

St John’s School and Sixth Form College, Bishop Auckland, will welcome the Northumberland Theatre Company in partnership with the Highlights Rural Touring Scheme and their stage adaptation of the George MacDonald fantasy novel The Princess and the Goblin.

Providing a pre-Christmas treat for children aged five and over, the production tells the story of Princess Irene, who the bride-to-be of the goblin king's son — but unfortunately he hasn't actually asked her yet.

With catchy songs, silly dance routines and lots of fun for everyone, The Princess and the Goblin is a story about growing up, making friends and the importance of friends and family.

St John’s School and Sixth Form College arts co-ordinator Jaquie Holloway said: “St John’s School is delighted to welcome NTC and knows the company will display their customary creativity to transform the hall into a place of wonder where they can weave their storytelling magic.

“The show will be fully staged with dazzling scenery, lighting and special effects and is the perfect festive entertainment for young and old alike.”

The show comes to St John’s School and Sixth Form College on Thursday, December 14, at 6pm.
