CHORISTERS ended the year on a high note with a special performance for a community’s senior citizens.

Thirteen singers from St John’s School and Sixth Form College, A Catholic Academy, Bishop Auckland, performed with festive cheer at the town’s Eden House care home.

As part of a busy schedule that took the students from local supermarkets to churches and the Metro Centre, the choir performed a mixed medley of Yuletide favourites under the direction of music teacher Becci Bell.

She said: “We visit the home several times a year and are always assured of a warm welcome and an appreciative audience. The students, from years 7-11, performed brilliantly; I’m so proud of them.”

Other performances raise invaluable funds for the music department for trips and extra instruments.

Eden House activities manager Claire Liddy said: “It was an outstanding performance and the residents loved it. They really appreciate having young visitors and look forward to the choir coming in.”
