PUPILS danced up a storm as they adapted the Nativity story to modern times with a strictly marvellous performance to remember.
Barnard Castle Preparatory School formed the Bethlehem Broadcasting Company for the day as the traditional Christmas tale became Lights, Camel, Action, It’s Strictly the Nativity.
The Pre-Prep pupils became lambs, camels and a donkey, innkeepers, Joseph, Mary, angels, stars, wise men, floor managers, show hosts, Nazareth husband and wife and Caesar.
As the cast danced everything from disco to tango the judges scored their performances with Caesar being booed by the audience for his low ratings of three. Meanwhile the innkeeper’s wife and donkey were cheered for their maximum scores of ten.
The music was provided by musical director George Ford and music teacher Sarah Beecroft who helped pull together an unforgettable extravaganza after weeks of rehearsals.
Prep School deputy head and director of studies Sarah Leonard said: “This show was absolutely fantastic and thoroughly deserving of a maximum score. The children had such a lot to remember including dialogue, songs and dance routines and did an absolutely brilliant job.”
A collection plate in chapel raised money for The Salvation Army.
