ENTERPRISING pupils have braved a grilling from a ‘dragon’s den’ of experts during an inspiring university visit to remember.
Twelve enthusiastic Year 5 pupils from Saltburn Primary School visited Teesside University where they stepped into the spotlight to deliver a dynamic sales pitch to a panel of experts.
At stake was £3,000 worth of equipment designed to encourage more active, healthy lifestyles across their school.
Armed with confidence, clear research and a passion for wellbeing, the children presented their case for investing in a range of exciting resources, including mini trampolines, outdoor gym equipment, Blazepods and other innovative activities to help make fitness fun and accessible for everyone.
The young presenters outlined the benefits of regular physical activity, showcased ideas for how the equipment would be used day-to-day and confidently answered questions from the panel of university ‘dragons’. Their professionalism and enthusiasm drew praise from staff and judges alike.
Saltburn Primary was successful in attaining the funding and over the summer, the equipment was installed and is currently used school-wide.
Assistant headteacher Kelly Allington said: “Teachers accompanying the group said they were incredibly proud of the pupils’ teamwork, creativity and maturity throughout the experience.
“The event not only helped the children build communication and leadership skills, but also gave them a taste of real-world problem-solving and enterprise. These young innovators left a lasting impression, proving that when it comes to big ideas, age is no barrier.”
