CATERING students have been cooking up a storm to thank local employers for supporting their college.
Staff from public and private sector organisations were invited to Darlington College’s Glasshouse restaurant for a celebratory lunch prepared and served by students.
A host of local employers work with Darlington College to help shape the training for the next generation of workers.
As well as influencing the curriculum, they provide a variety of placements, apprenticeships and jobs to help young people make the transition from education to employment.
Head of marketing and engagement Claire Hankey said: “We wanted to mark Colleges Week and it seemed appropriate to recognise all the special relationships we have developed with so many local organisations, both in the public and private sectors.
“A modern workforce needs to comprise people with the right skills and we value all the help and guidance we receive from employers which allows our students to settle in quickly and efficiently into the world of work. This also ensures that employers have easy access to a ready supply of well-trained workers.”
